Lionel Messi and Alexia Putellas Crowned FIFA "THE BEST," Argentina Clean Sweep The FIFA Awards

In a magical night at the Theatre du Chatelet, the football world stood up in applause as the best in the world were crowned at the FiFA Awards 2022.

For a record breaking 7th time in history, Leo Messi has been awarded the FiFA Player of the Year Award in the form of "FiFA Men's Best Player" for 2022. 

Leo Messi had first won the award back in 2009, becoming the First player in History to have been crowned the FIFA Player of the Year in three decades.
Barcelona Femeni captain Alexia Putellas was awarded the FIFA Women's Best Player for back to back seasons alongside winning her spot in the FIFA Pro Women's World XI.

Argentine keeper Emiliano Martinez was crowned FIFA The Best Men's Goalkeeper Award for his World Cup heroics in Qatar 2022.  Lionel Scaloni was awarded FiFA The Best Men's Coach for leading the Argentine national team to World Cup Glory in 2022.


Argentine Fans were announced as the Best Fans of 2022 for their tremendous support at the Qatar World Cup. Mary Earps won the FiFA Best Women's Goalkeeper while Sarina Weigman was awarded the Best Women's Coach for their heroics at the Euros 2022 for England.

Marcin Oleksy, an amputee footballer, won the Puskas Award and Luka Lochoshvili was awarded the Best Fairplay Award for saving the life of Austria Vienna's Georg Teigl in February 2022.
